Dragon Half Art is a woman-owned Pacific Northwest art business built on the belief that creativity should be accessible, inclusive, and community-driven.

Founded by two queer, neurodivergent women, including one woman of color, we create ethically sourced art for the geeky, curious, and otherworldly at heart. Our work is inspired by the stories, characters, and hyper-fixations we love, resulting in art that is vibrant, imaginative, and unapologetically weird.

More than creating art, our mission is to help build a thriving local creative community. We believe art has the power to connect people, celebrate individuality, and create spaces where everyone feels welcome. Through collaborations, classes, and community events, we hope to make art more accessible and eventually create a dedicated community art space where creativity can flourish and be shared with others.

I come from a long line of artists and a celebration of the unique. I’m used to seeing things through a different lens and making connections that others don’t see. My interests and skills are as varied as the products and services Dragon Half Art sells. I have an educational background in film and photography and a professional one in admin and social work. Through these experiences I have now found myself at the perfect time to combine my learned skills with the vision of Dragon Half Art.

I have lived in Vancouver my whole life and hold a great deal of love and admiration for the community that has grown here. It only seems natural to extend that love to creating something permanent within it.

Lord of Leathercrafts & Events

I grew up surrounded by creativity. My father, who ran J.S. & Associates, worked in graphic art and printing, producing packaging and design for produce companies. I watched him connect farmers, printers, and stores with his work, and it taught me early on that art is as much about people as it is about aesthetics. My mother was always crafting when I was a kid; embroidery, sewing, ceramics, you name it. Watching her create these beautiful things by hand showed me to appreciate life beyond the computer screen. She lost her battle with breast cancer in 2023, but her creativity and patience lives on in everything I make.

At a young age, I discovered the possibilities of digital art and taught myself to bring ideas to life onscreen. From there, my curiosity expanded into acrylic painting, clay, leatherwork, and mixed media.

Today, through Dragon Half Art, I carry forward both my dad’s and mother’s legacy of connection and my own passion for imagination. My goal isn’t just to make art, but to empower others to create boldly, explore different mediums, and discover the joy of turning daydreams into something tangible.

Hi, I’m Mo!

Like our lovely founders, I grew up surrounded by incredible practiced talent that I like to think shaped my trajectory.

With two full time working parents, my sisters and I became second-hands for our grandparents endless art and building projects. My grandmother a career painter and my grandfather a woodworker, painter, carpenter, welder, sculptor, etc… we had our hands in just about everything! Once they recognized I had an interest, the support was instant and ceaseless.

In college, I discovered a passion for helping local organizations, businesses, and community members bring their ideas to life through design, communication, and event planning. Connecting and supporting meaningful local partnerships strengthens our communities and helps us grow together.

Fostering these bonds is a grassroots effort that takes the work of many for the behest of all. I cannot wait to meet more artists and grow our community!
